SINGLE MALT WELSH WHISKY - PROTECTED GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION STATUS
Coles Welsh Whisky production started in the summer of 2014 after the construction of their one of a kind distillery, a four thousand litre pot and column still at a cost of £1.5 million.
The distillery has been built in the car park of the White Hart Inn, a 600 year old thatched pub and restaurant. The Coles family are the first in Carmarthenshire to produce and bottle their own Welsh Whisky.
All Coles Whisky has been matured over five years in ex-Jack Daniels bourbon barrels, where it will take on the oak flavour and all the different flavours from the first fill barrel for example, vanilla, caramel and raisins.
"Single Malt Welsh Whisky" is recognised nationally and internationally as being a quality product with a distinct style, all mashing, brewing, fermentation, distillation, maturation and bottling must be completed in Wales.
All water used in the production of "Single Malt Whisky" must be sourced from Welsh origin.
Coles Single Malt Whisky has been awarded GI status, this is the first and only Welsh spirit to receive GI Status.

We built our distillery on this site because of the spring water which is being used to make Coles Brewery award winner beer and now award winning Coles Whisky. At Coles distillery we like to think that we have captured Wales in a glass. So lets raise a glass to family and friends, may they be of the past, present or future with Welsh whisky from Coles distillery.
